Benmet Steel & Metal is a leader in the Canadian scrap and recycling industry located in Guelph, Stratford and Owen Sound, Ontario. We are one of the most established and reputable independent scrap metal processors in Ontario. We are looking for motivated individuals to join our growing team as a Scale Operator.

What you’ll do…

We are seeking a dedicated Scale Operator to join our team in Guelph, Ontario. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our operations by ensuring accurate weight measurements for incoming and outgoing materials, contributing to our mission of delivering superior service and value.

- Customer Service - Face to face interaction with customers, handling customer inquiries in person and over the phone

- Scale Operations – weighing customers, inputting accurate information, completing tickets and paying customers

- Cash management – Daily ATM loading and end of day cash reconciliation

- Preparation - completion of scale and driver paperwork with strong attention to detail

- Maintenance – Regular cleaning / restocking of scale house customer area

- Non-scrap purchasing – Obtaining quotes, providing POs for approved orders, receiving orders and matching invoices to POs

What you offer…

- Highschool or GED

- Knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel and Outlook)

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Excellent organizational and time management skills

- Flexible, adaptable, able to multi-task

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

- Basic math skills for accurate weight calculations.

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Previous experience in shipping & receiving is an asset.
