Shop Maintenance / Custodian

Job Overview

Steel 21 is seeking a reliable and hardworking Shop Maintenance / Custodian to help keep our facility safe, clean, organized, and running smoothly. This role is essential to maintaining a productive shop environment for our team.

The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining a clean workspace, is mechanically inclined, and enjoys working in an industrial setting. This position combines shop maintenance support with general custodial duties to ensure the facility remains safe and functional.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment

- Perform general custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal

- Keep walkways, work areas, and common spaces clean and hazard-free

- Assist with basic facility and Truck maintenance, and minor repairs

- Maintain organization of tools, supplies, and shop equipment

- Support shop personnel with general maintenance tasks

- Monitor shop conditions and report safety concerns or repair needs

- Help maintain outdoor areas, entrances, and loading areas

- Assist with inventory and stocking of cleaning and maintenance supplies

Qualifications

- Previous maintenance, custodial, or shop experience preferred

- Basic mechanical aptitude

- Ability to work in an industrial shop environment

- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and safety

- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods

- Experience working around CNC machines is a plus

Compensation

Hourly wage is based on experience. Benefits are available.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
