Addressing rising energy costs and penalties for large energy / carbon consumers is priority for real estate owners, but they need an experienced, diligent, and responsive team of professionals to depend on. RKB Group LLC is a growing energy services firm serving as this partner to building owners to assist them with Local Law compliance, engineering for decarbonization, and capturing utility incentives.
This Sales Engineer Intern will begin as Inside Sales, managing a plethora of existing customers and accounts to expand existing business relationships with building owners and property managers. They'll manage daily incoming leads from leadership and partners and serve the critical role of tracking leads, developing and presenting proposals, managing and organizing project contract documents, developing relationships with customers, and managing post-sales. This may be accomplished through on-site discussions, email campaigns, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and/or industry networking events.
The candidate must have exceptional communication capabilities (excluding the use of any AI) and have the ambition to interface and coordinate with a multitude of customers, in various capacities.
As this candidate demonstrates proficiencies in these foundational tasks, they’ll be promoted through the sales structure and have the opportunity to eventually direct the overall Sales efforts.
· Proposals and Sales Support: Support leadership with Sales activities including proposal development and presentation, providing sample work products to prospects, and providing any other support to prospects and customers.
o Develop new sales product templates and maintain accurate records in RKB database.
· Maintain CRM Records: Update CRM with new Sales opportunities and help track existing efforts, informing the team of priority items and actions.
o This information must be complete and error-free in order for the team to support the fulfilment of the projects.
· Utility Incentive Programs: Research, attend trainings, coordinate with utility contacts in order to bring utility incentive benefits to customers. Communicate key aspects of programs to customers and be able to incorporate the applicable incentives in the financials in project proposals.
· Presentations: Schedule, organize, and support the presentation of services to customers and/or partners.
· Coordination with Team: Organize and communicate the project information collected by Employee during the sales process for engineering/the team to fulfill the project requirements.
· Sales and Marketing Events: Attend sales events to prospect potential customers, serve as the primary person responsible in recording and following up on sales leads.
· Prior sales experience in energy efficiency, sustainability, or building services—ideally within the NYC real estate or facilities market.
· Familiarity with NYC Local Laws, especially Local Law 97, and general knowledge of LL84, LL88, and LL87.
· Proven success selling technical or regulatory services (e.g., energy audits, carbon assessments, retro-commissioning, building electrification).
· Experience coordinating with engineers, consultants, or contractors on project scoping and implementation timelines.
· Ability to speak confidently about carbon emissions, building performance standards, incentives (e.g., NYSERDA, Con Edison Clean Heat), and compliance deadlines.
· Detail-oriented, organized, and able to track multiple complex projects accurately.
· Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
· Creative, charismatic, and personable approach to sales and client interaction.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Monday.com CRM.
· Skilled in prospecting and lead generation through research and outreach.
· Strong negotiation and closing abilities to move deals through the sales funnel.
· Effective at handling objections and aligning solutions with client needs.
· Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks across accounts.
· Capable of learning and articulating service features, benefits, and market fit.
· Comfortable generating and analyzing sales reports to inform strategy.
· Adaptable and eager to learn new tools, systems, and market approaches.
