We are seeking a Part-Time Safety Officer (25-30 hrs/wk) to support safety compliance and field operations for our well drilling and pump service crews in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. This role focuses on OSHA compliance, jobsite safety, training, and incident prevention across drilling rigs, pump trucks, excavation sites, and service work. Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926)
- Support DOT/FMCSA compliance for fleet vehicles and CDL drivers
- Conduct routine jobsite and equipment safety inspections
- Maintain written safety programs and required OSHA documentation
- Lead new hire safety orientation and toolbox talks
- Investigate injuries, accidents, and near-misses
- Support workers’ compensation and insurance loss-control efforts
- Partner with field supervisors to correct hazards and improve safety practices
- Safety experience in construction, drilling, utilities, and/or heavy equipment
- Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience in water well drilling or pump service
- OSHA 30 (Construction)
- Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA compliance
- First Aid / CPR certification
- Some internal office
- Active drilling and excavation sites
- Outdoor work in varying New England weather
- Ability to climb equipment and lift up to 50 lbs
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., OSHA).
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Ability to identify hazards, inspect workplaces, and implement corrective actions.
- Communication Skills: Ability to deliver training, conduct toolbox talks, and communicate safety requirements clearly to all staff levels.
- Emergency Response: Proficiency in developing emergency procedures and conducting drills.
- Reporting & Data Analysis: Experience in investigating accidents, maintaining records, and analyzing trends to improve safety performance.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to influence, train, and build rapport with workers to promote a safe working environment.
