Overview
The Health and Safety Officer is a key member of the Office team and is expected to embrace the Company’s Core Values in their daily actions with customers, suppliers, and fellow team members. The Health and Safety Officer plays a pivotal role in working with Company President, Office Manager, Field Operations Manager and Project Foreman to ensure that all projects can be effectively and safely executed based on the project plan and Company’s standards. They are Responsible for the overall management of the Company’s project safety and occupational health program. They will be conducting safety orientations, supervising project safety, providing incident investigation, and ensuring compliance with corporate safety program standards.

The Health and Safety Officer is accountable for the following activities…
Work collaboratively with project teams to identify and mitigate hazardous working conditions and unsafe behaviors to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel working on our projects.
Work directly with the Job Site Foreman and the Field Operations Manager to ensure projects follow all company safety requirements, as well as applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding environmental and health and safety matters.
Work with Office Manager on scheduling drug testing.
Monitor active employee certifications and schedule training for renewals.
Monitor the arrival of all new employees to ensure all personnel receive required training/certifications.
Schedule and trainings/test that need to be held offsite.
Weekly Job site visits to ensure all company health and safety protocols are being followed.
Bi-monthly inspection of all company trucks, trailers, and safety equipment.
Ensure personnel are supplied with all necessary safety equipment.
Maintain company inventory of all safety equipment and supplies.
Maintain company OSHA Logs, Veriforce, and IS Networld.
Make sure the company is compliant with all regulations.
Ensure the company Health and Safety manual remains up to date and compliant compliant.
Lead the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
Oversee the administration of workers’ compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
Make recommendations regarding corrective actions and/or continuous improvement.
Minimum 2-year Degree or equivalent related and relevant industry experience
Great customer service skills and outstanding communication
Proven leadership skills and ability to delegate work
Exceptional time management skills, ability to estimate work effort and time needed for various jobs.
Excellent writing skills for proposals and reports
