Position Title: Purchasing Clerk

Department: Office

Reporting Relationship: Plant Manager

Wage Status: Non- Exempt

Position Summary: Initiates the purchase of materials or supplies by determining vendor, issuing purchase orders and maintaining inventory levels.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

- Creates purchase orders and requisitions to maintain inventory in materials, goods and supplies and sends purchase orders to suppliers.

- Communicates on the telephone and through email to interact with suppliers daily.

- Reviews and maintains manual or computerized records for material inventories and determines status and location of purchase orders.

- Reviews deliveries against orders and ensures invoices are sent to accounting.

- Deals with non-supplied, under orders and damaged goods and procures the proper goods.

- Researches and prices proposal requests.

- Utilizes company vehicle to purchase local inventory items as needed.

- Maintains front desk and incoming telephone calls.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Highschool Diploma or equivalent.

- One to two years related experience and/or training.

- Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR.

- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

- Must have excellent telephone communication skills and the ability to handle stressful situations with customers on the phone or through email.

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- Microsoft Office experience required.

- Prolonged periods of sitting and a desk and working at a computer.

- Lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds frequently.

- Ability to reach, bend at waist, stretch, stoop, kneel or squat to place and retrieve items.

- Ability to walk or stand frequently and for prolonged periods of time.

- Ability to work in an environment that may be extremely loud at times.

- Ability to work in an environment that can be extremely hot or cold for extended periods of time.

- Ability to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) as required for the position.

- This position works mostly indoors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
