The Parts Coordinator is responsible for managing, tracking, and issuing parts and materials required for utility operations and maintenance. This role ensures accurate inventory levels, timely availability of critical components, and effective coordination between field crews, vendors, and internal departments to support safe and reliable utility services.
- Coordinate the ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of utility parts and materials
- Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management or ERP systems.
- Issue parts and materials to field crews and maintenance teams based on work orders.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
- Verify received shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
- Coordinate returns, warranty claims, and surplus or obsolete material disposition.
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery issues.
- Support emergency and after-hours material needs during outages or critical events.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of materials in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain documentation related to parts usage, inventory transactions, and procurement.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to forecast material needs.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or parts coordination, preferably in a utility or industrial environment.- Working knowledge of inventory management systems or ERP software.
- Basic understanding of utility materials (electrical, gas, water, or telecom components preferred).
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, part numbers, and technical documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
