Performs a wide variety of responsible and complex office support functions for an assigned functional area. Specific duties may be performed in support of a range of activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing, customer billing, general administration and other similar areas. Positions allocated to this class generally include lead supervisory responsibility over lower level clerical staff and employees and may train, direct, and monitor the work of others.
This is the advanced journey/lead level classification within the Office Specialist series. This job class is distinguished from the lower Office Specialist classifications by the assignment of lead supervisory responsibilities and/or by the performance of the more difficult and specialized clerical work. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision within a broad framework of policies and procedures.
Basic supervisory principles and practices; safe operation of office, mail, and copy equipment, such as high speed mail openers/extractors; technical and complex procedures, rules, and policies governing or impacting office or systems work assignments; proper English usage, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and spelling; basic methods of arithmetic and simple algebra; operation of personal computers and the use of word processing, spreadsheet, Excel, Windows, OSCAR, Power Point,and other related software applications; and, appropriate SAP modules.Skills To
Plan, direct, and review the work of others on a day-to-day basis; organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work activities and meet critical deadlines; learn the activities and operations of the assigned office area; perform a wide range of highly responsible, technical and complex clerical/administrative office support work; conduct detailedand thorough research; operate personal computers and use specified computer applications; establish and maintain effective office procedures and accurate record keeping and filing systems; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; interpret and apply policies, procedures, standards, and requirements related to area of responsibility; and, safely use a variety of business office equipment.Physical Requirements
