The Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician is primarily responsible for performing various NDT methods to evaluate materials, components, and systems for defects or discontinuities without causing damage to the part. The Technicians duties encompass the full testing cycle, including the preparation of necessary equipment, the execution of the NDT tests following specified procedures, and the meticulous recording and reporting of all inspection results. Reporting to NDT Lead and/or FHE NDT Level III, this role is crucial in ensuring the quality, reliability, and safety of all tested equipment.
Job Essential Duties
- Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) operations following established Level III procedures.
- Maintain NDT equipment through daily maintenance, inspection, and calibration.
- Manage workflow and production by prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and ensuring job progress efficiency.
- Maintain clear communication with the NDT Lead.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures and safety requirements.
- Manage and track tools, equipment, and materials used in the department, notify Lead when repairs or replacement is required.
- Ensure Customer details are maintained on the pallet tag throughout the job process.
- Support other departmental tasks by assisting the Wash Bay/Sand Blast Technician and helping with NDT Trainee training.
- Other assigned duties.
- General understanding of Pressure Control Equipment and components used in Oil & Gas industry.
- Detail oriented in compiling, checking and recording information.
- Communication proficiency, organizational skills, mathematical skills, thoroughness, time management.
- Read, write and communicate clearly in English
- Be able to visually identify parts, unions, thread types
- Strong ethical prowess
- Good decision-making skills with ability to work under pressure.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Level II NDT Certification preferred
- Exposure to certain contaminants, at times.
- Be able to tolerate high noise levels with the protection of ear plugs.
- This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday.
- Stand, bend, sit, stoop, crawl, squat, kneel, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to see close up and at a distance
- Stand/Walk for 8-10 hours per day.
- Personal protective equipment is required when in designated areas.
