Champion is looking for a Mechanical Estimator to support new nuclear work, from being part of historic nuclear builds/refurbishments to analyzing project scopes and developing detailed and competitive bids.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Develop detailed cost estimates and execution plans for large-scale nuclear construction projects.
- Prepare and submit competitive bids for construction projects.
- Ensure that bids comply with project specifications and requirements.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., project management, business development, Human Resources) to finalize bid submissions.
- Participate in design and constructability reviews (Civil, Structural and Mechanical)
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and project controls to verify pricing and scopes.
- Maintain and expand the historical cost database for future benchmarking.
- Prepare and present tender proposals and participate in bid closings.
- Partner with Project Managers on turnover and execution planning.
- Conduct site visits to validate cost assumptions and real-world methods.- 5–8+ years of estimating experience within EPC, power generation, oil & gas, or heavy industrial construction.
- Estimating for operating Nuclear sites is a huge asset
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of project controls, cost modeling, and scheduling.
- Experience with MS Excel is mandatory; knowledge of other estimating tools such as Cleopatra or Hard Dollar is an asset.
- Proven ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and contract language.
- Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
- U.S. Citizenship required to visit project sites.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across the U.S.
- Certifications through AACE or PMI are assets but not required.
This role will be hybrid, approximately 80% remote and 20% in our Alpharetta, GA office.
