The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for evaluating project scope, conducting material takeoffs, reviewing specifications, developing cost models, and preparing complete bid packages. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and project documents for both commercial and industrial projects.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and project timelines.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to gather pricing and technical information.
- Develop proposals, bid packages, and project budgets based on client requirements and company standards.
- Identify project risks, value-engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives.
- 3–5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating (HVAC, plumbing, and/or piping).- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, construction methods, materials, and codes.
- Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and analyze labor productivity factors.
- Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple bids simultaneously
