The Manager, Permit Operations Business Support provides management and oversight of the staff that support the finances, customer service, Permit Information Management System (PIMS), and intake coordination. Manages, plans and controls the preparation of key financial data, improvements to customer service processes, and standard operating procedures to maximize the efficient operation of Permit Operations.
- Manages staff responsible for providing support for all developer related accounts establishment and billing, customer service and administration of DC Water’s Permit Information Management System.
- Provides guidance and advice to the Director, Permit Operations on daily operations, financial information, policies, and programs in order to manage and improve the business support processes and develop staff.
- Ensures that all professional, technical, and ethical standards are upheld in the financial and business processes.
- Provides leadership skills, advancement and training opportunities for direct reports to perform their functions professionally.
- Interfaces with customers and resolves complex issues and problems associated with any financial, customer service and business process as they arise.
- Performs routine technical and administrative functions including attending DC Water and/or departmental policy meetings and preparation of status reports for Permit Operations.
- Develops and implements plans and objectives to impact business results and improve financial and business processes.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the Director, Permit Operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provides daily planning and administration in the selection, assignment, supervision, promotion, discipline, and training of personnel within the Section.
Key Working Relationships:
Interacts with co-workers in the department and throughout the Authority, Inspectors, Engineers, Developers, etc.The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary for an individual to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable amounts of training are provided.
Seven (7) years progressive experience or equivalent education/experience associated with accounting, financial reporting, financial planning, including three (3) years supervisory experience.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or related field from an accredited college/university.
Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, management and proven interpersonal skills are required.
Ability to construct business strategy and implement strategy formulation and deployment.
Must have advanced proficiency in various software packages including GIS, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, MS Teams, SharePoint, Visio, and PowerBi.
A master’s degree in accounting finance, business management or related field from an accredited college/university or MBA.
