Riverfront Machine is seeking a hands-on Industrial Engineer to support and improve our metal stamping and manufacturing operations. This role focuses on optimizing production processes, improving efficiency, reducing waste, and supporting safe, high-quality output across CNC machining, press operations, welding, and material handling.
The ideal candidate is data-driven, process-focused, and comfortable working directly on the shop floor with operators, supervisors, and leadership. This role plays a key part in continuous improvement initiatives, standard work development, and operational performance.
- Analyze manufacturing processes to improve productivity, throughput, and labor utilization.
- Develop and implement standard work, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Identify and eliminate waste using Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Support line balancing, cell layout optimization, and workflow improvements.
- Conduct time studies, labor studies, and capacity analysis across stamping, CNC, welding, and secondary operations.
- Support production planning and scheduling through data-driven analysis.
- Evaluate equipment utilization and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with Quality and Safety teams to improve process stability and reduce defects, scrap, and rework.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for production or quality issues.
- Ensure process improvements align with safety standards and ergonomic best practices.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics, dashboards, and reports related to productivity, efficiency, and cost.
- Support ERP and production reporting systems with accurate routings, labor standards, and process data.
- Analyze cost drivers and support cost-reduction initiatives.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and Tool Room
- Support new product introductions, process changes, and equipment implementation.
- Provide technical support and training related to process improvements and standard work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; metal stamping or machining experience preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in time studies, process mapping, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP or manufacturing systems.
- Ability to work effectively on the shop floor and communicate with hourly and salaried employees.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with CNC machining, press operations, welding, or fabrication processes.
- Experience with ergonomic assessments and workstation design.
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on the shop floor for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting, bending, and reaching to observe and analyze work processes.
- Measurable improvements in productivity, efficiency, and throughput.
- Reduced scrap, rework, and process variation.
- Clear, usable standard work adopted by production teams.
- Strong collaboration and trust across departments.
This listed pay reflects the base salary pay. This position is elgiable for an additional annual bonus.
The pay range listed for this position reflects the base wage and is provided in compliance with Illinois law. Placement within the range is based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. Bonus eligibility, if applicable, is separate and based on performance and company criteria.
