The General Labor team member supports daily manufacturing operations by performing a variety of hands-on tasks including basic assembly, grinding, deburring, slag removal, kitting, and material handling. This role prepares fabricated metal parts for welding, finishing, and final assembly. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, reliable, and follows safety practices.
- Grind, sand, and smooth metal surfaces to remove burrs, sharp edges, slag, weld spatter, and imperfections.
- Use hand grinders, sanders, and pneumatic tools to finish parts.
- Inspect parts to ensure they meet dimensional and finish standards.
- Assist with simple mechanical assembly using hand and power tools.
- Read and follow work instructions, tags, and basic drawings.
- Pick and prepare kits for welding and assembly based on production orders.
- Organize, label, and stage materials for welders and assemblers.
- Load and unload parts, assist with staging for fabrication or welding.
- Maintain clean work area and follow all plant safety rules.
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience in manufacturing preferred but not required.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely.
- Ability to stand, lift, bend, and work on feet for long periods.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Use of grinders, sanders, or metal finishing tools.
- Exposure to welding environments or fabrication processes.
- Ability to read basic blueprints or work instructions.
- Forklift or pallet jack experience.
- Metal fabrication shop environment with noise, metal debris, and active machinery.
- PPE required: safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toe boots.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for most of shift.
- Consistent use of PPE.
