The Energy Efficiency Engineering Consultant will develop and lead Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Technical Assistance (TA) projects and programs for Utilities. This position will need to develop and grow relationships with clients and customers, develop new work, and execute technical work.
Responsibilities may vary as each client and project will have its own requirements however the expectations of this role will include:
· Anticipate client needs through understanding of their business goals, and advocate for Frontier's solutions with a focus on how they align with specific client needs and industry wide trends.
· Grow relationships with existing clients and develop new work with through collaborations with partners, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
· Apply technical expertise to resolve complex problems experienced by industry stakeholders.
· Manage medium complexity projects, delegating work to junior engineers and providing mentoring as needed.
· Review budget and scope of work break-downs with program staff and Frontier staff to ensure deliverables, milestones, and budgets are met.
· Coordinate cross-disciplinary teams to execute task and program level assignments.
· Stays current with trends affecting building science, energy efficiency, and decarbonization.
· Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering, technical, or science field, including energy, building and environmental science, or advanced building construction
· 5 to 7 years work experience in HVAC, renewable energy, utility, facility management, or consulting field.
· Solid understanding of technical topics such as engineering, physics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, building energy efficiency, grid-responsive technologies, decarbonization technologies, renewable energy, and distributed energy resources.
· Experience working with building mechanical systems, distributed energy resources (DER), and electrification technologies.
· Organization and logistics for travel and off-site activity coordination
· Project management experience leveraging leading industry tools & platforms
· Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts.
· Must be willing and able to contribute in a team environment, while also possessing the capability to perform work independently.
· Thought leader willing to develop skills outside existing expertise.
· Must pass all required safety training and follow all safety guidelines, able to work safely after being provided the necessary guidance.
· Experience with data collection in a laboratory or field setting (building management systems, sensors and data loggers)
· Hands-on instrumentation and experience with hand tools, wiring, and basic electrical circuits and systems
· Advanced data management and analysis capabilities and experience handling time series data.
· Advanced use of MS O365 suite including word processing, spreadsheet, quantitative data analysis, and presentation computer applications.
· Ability to operate independently and in cross-functional teams in consulting and rapid growth-oriented environment.
· Combination of remote and on-site work with expectation of monthly visits to local Frontier office (need for reliable personal transportation).
· Field work regularly includes (but is not limited to) industrial, commercial, and residential sites; construction zones; boiler rooms; mechanical rooms. hospitals, schools, commercial spaces, and industrial process sites.
· Ability to be on feet for extended periods and lift minimum of 30 lbs.
· Travel – Up to 50% time, as needed, based on project needs (local and national).
