We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Demand Planner and Coordinator with experience in the chemical industries to join our team. This role is essential for optimizing supply chain operations, forecasting demand, and ensuring compliant and efficient logistics for containers and recycled materials. - Forecast demand for containers, recycling services, and related materials based on market trends, client needs, and historical data from our customers.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound freight operations for manufacturing and distribution sites in the US and Canada.
- Handle shipment scheduling, planning, tracking, and updates, ensuring timely delivery.
- Organize and oversee international and domestic freight shipments from start to finish, collaborating with suppliers, trucking companies, warehouses, and carriers.
- Work directly with freight forwarders and 3PL providers to select optimal routes, costs, and options for transport.
- Resolve customer service issues, such as shipment discrepancies, damages, or quality concerns related to containers and recycling.
- Approve freight, crating, and broker invoices; track and reduce overall logistics spending.
- Provide freight quotations, review customs entries for accuracy, and maintain electronic filing systems for documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., operations, sales, and supply chain) to ensure seamless coordination and meet company objectives.
- Assist with data entry, filing, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Review daily routes for completeness, accuracy, and documentation; reconcile planned vs. actual shipments, identifying deviations or issues.
- Prepare reconciliation reports on delivery performance, discrepancies, and trends.
- Supervise daily transportation, logistics, and production activities for smaller-scale or single-line operations, monitoring team productivity.
- Effectively implement new performance management systems, production plans, and performance criteria.
- Run shift meetings, confirm production progress, and respond to delays.
- Schedule trucking transportation and logistics using BluJay software systems.
- Create and implement group improvement plans.
- Encourage joint problem-solving, personal safety, and individual development among the team.
- Support the company's mission, follow its values, and work to improve the business as a whole.
- Implement and enforce compliance with applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor work schedules to ensure efficient operations.
- Maintain knowledge of processes and equipment.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support environmental and recycling goals.
- College degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2-4 years of experience in logistics, demand planning, or coordination, with specific experience in the industries (e.g., chemical recycling or container management).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and advanced reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in customer service via phone, email, and in-person.
- High attention to detail, accuracy with records, and ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable and flexible, with a willingness to learn and follow standard operating procedures.
- Dependable team player who can work independently or collaboratively.
