The Opportunity JOB DESCRIPTION
At Canadian Natural, we are dedicated to driving innovation and excellence in the energy sector. As a recognized leader in Canada’s energy industry, we operate one of the strongest and most diversified asset portfolios of any independent energy producer in the world.
Canadian Natural is seeking a Crude Oil Marketing Manager to lead the commercialization of our crude oil production and drive netback optimization across a large, diversified portfolio. This role is accountable for commercial strategy and day to day execution, including customer contracting, market insight, and close coordination with Logistics and Scheduling, Production, Finance and Accounting, and other stakeholders. A core part of this role is relationship leadership. You will represent the marketing team with key customers and partners, earn alignment internally, and create the conditions for consistent, executable commercial outcomes. You will also lead and develop a team of marketing professionals and help strengthen our market position through disciplined decision making, strong relationships, and high-quality execution.
- Job location: Calgary, Alberta
- Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts
- Safety sensitive position: No
- Application deadline: February 16, 2026
- Lead crude commercialization and netback performance: Own the end-to-end commercialization of Canadian Natural’s crude portfolio and maximize netbacks through pricing strategy, quality and grade optimization, transportation and storage decisions, and commercial term optimization across an approximately 1.2 MMbbl/d portfolio.
- Own customer and stakeholder relationships: Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with customers and commercial counterparties, and lead the internal alignment required to execute commitments. Act as a primary escalation point for commercial issues and ensure relationships are managed with professionalism, consistency, and follow through.
- Execute commercial strategy and contracting excellence: Lead negotiation, execution, and lifecycle management of spot and term crude sales agreements, ensuring alignment with governance, credit policy, and commercial risk controls. Ensure commercial intent is reflected in clear documentation and sustained performance over time.
- Translate market insight into action: Develop and communicate a clear crude market view including fundamentals, differentials, quality economics, downstream demand, and constraints. Convert that view into practical contracting, market access, and sales strategies that the organization can execute.
- Drive cross functional execution and issue resolution: Partner closely with Logistics and Scheduling, Operations, and downstream stakeholders to ensure commercial commitments are executable. Lead timely value protection decisions during disruptions, constraints, or quality impacts and ensure clear communication to internal teams and customers.
- Lead, develop, and inspire high performance teams: Build capability within a team of senior marketing coordinators through coaching, prioritization, and development. Set expectations, reinforce standards, and foster a culture of integrity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
