The position of CNC Turn Machinist 4 is part of a growing team and requires exceptional critical thinking, time management and communication skills, an ability to handle complex machines and tools, and a willingness to lead by example in the workplace. This position is responsible for operation of three or more machines verifying that the parts are to print.
During production, you must monitor the machinery and conduct regular quality checks to ensure they are running properly and that the parts are being produced according to specifications. Accuracy is crucial to our production, so all candidates must have attention to detail and be extremely focused on their work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES ARE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Lead advanced setups and prototypes
- Mentor machinists at all lower levels
- Resolve complex troubleshooting situations
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide feedback on job readiness, setups, and documentation
- Edit programs to meet specifications
- Prove out new or unproven programs
- Train machinists on setup and operations
- Conduct basic machine repair and maintenance
- Collaborate with programming and engineering to resolve issues
- Interpret & use blueprints/drawings to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Conduct machine recovery after minor faults or crashes
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Use of measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Understanding of CNC offsets, tooling, and machining principles
- Basic to advanced troubleshooting (increasing by level)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work independently or with minimal supervision
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a shop environment
- High school diploma and Machine Technology degree preferred
- 6+ years of equivalent experience on CNC including set-ups- Proven leadership skills
- Able to communicate professionally and successfully with others
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement preferred
- Experience working within AS9100 requirements/methodologies preferred
