CNC Machine Operator

Job Summary

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce high-quality precision parts according to engineering blueprints and specifications.

Job Duties

- Set up and operate CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes, routers, grinders) according to job orders and engineering drawings.

- Load raw materials and verify correct tooling, fixtures, and offsets.

- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T symbols.

- Monitor machine operations, make adjustments, and perform tool changes as needed.

- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.

- Maintain accurate production records, including setup sheets and quality documentation.

- Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly.

- Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and workplace guidelines.

- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and quality control personnel to resolve production issues.

- Identify opportunities to improve machining processes and reduce waste.

- Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)

- Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

- High school diploma or GED; technical certification or trade school training preferred.

- 2+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing or metalworking environment.

- Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding machining principles.

- Experience operating CNC machines (HAAS SL-30, HAAS TL-3, Samsung SL25004 and/or Hurco VM20i a plus, or similar controls)

- Ability to use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).

- Basic understanding of G-code and machine programming concepts (a plus).

Competencies/ Technology Skills

- Intermediate verbal and written communication skills

- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills

- Detail oriented

Hourly Range: $23 - $26
