Step Into Precision: A Day in the Life at Atlas Fibre
You arrive at our climate-controlled facility in Northbrook, IL, grab your PPE, and step onto the floor where advanced composites meet state-of-the-art CNC technology. Your shift begins by reviewing work orders, blueprints, and specs for aerospace-bound parts. You program, set up, and run CNC mills and lathes (Okuma, Haas, Fanuc), ensuring raw materials and tooling are ready to go. Throughout the day, you dial in feeds and speeds, monitor cycle times, and keep an eye on the details that separate good work from great work.
Between runs, you inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, and gauges, document results for traceability, and uphold FOD control procedures that are mission-critical in aviation and aerospace. You troubleshoot deviations with your supervisor, perform routine maintenance, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams on new product introductions. Before the day wraps, you identify small process tweaks that can reduce waste and extend tool life—leaving your workstation spotless and production-ready.
