The Business Operations Director plays a critical leadership support role within the organization, ensuring operational compliance, regulatory adherence, workforce development, and strategic growth initiatives are executed with precision and accountability. This position bridges operations, compliance, talent acquisition, and government relations to support sustainable growth and operational excellence.
- Serve as primary coordinator for regulatory compliance activities including:
- MSHA (Mine Safety & Health Administration)
- ATF compliance and reporting requirements
- Federal and state production reporting
- General facility inspections and documentation
- Maintain all regulatory records, filings, permits, and certifications.
- Coordinate internal audits and inspections; ensure corrective actions are documented and completed.
- Develop and maintain compliance tracking systems and reporting dashboards.
- Act as liaison with regulatory agencies and inspectors.
- Support safety culture initiatives and ensure documentation meets audit standards.
- Lead recruiting efforts for operations, administrative, and technical positions.
- Develop and manage job postings, candidate sourcing, and screening processes.
- Coordinate interviews and onboarding processes.
- Maintain relationships with local workforce boards, trade schools, and universities.
- Assist in workforce planning aligned with operational growth.
- Support retention initiatives and employee engagement efforts.
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue state, county, and municipal grants and incentive programs.
- Coordinate applications for economic development incentives tied to expansion, capital investment, and job creation.
- Track compliance and reporting requirements associated with awarded incentives.
- Maintain relationships with city, county, and state development agencies.
- Support documentation for tax abatements, workforce incentives, infrastructure grants, and other applicable programs.
- Support cross-departmental coordination between operations, safety, accounting, and executive leadership.
- Develop reporting metrics related to compliance, staffing, and regulatory performance.
- Assist with documentation related to facility expansions, inspections, and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain organized records for leases, permits, licenses, and regulatory correspondence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3–5+ years of experience in operations administration, regulatory compliance, or related field.- Working knowledge of MSHA, ATF regulations, or similar regulatory frameworks preferred.
- Experience with grant writing, public incentive programs, or government relations strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
