Torngat Metals is seeking a qualified Business Development Manage
r to join its team. The position is based in Montreal. Reporting to the Strategic Business Development Executive, this role is responsible for supporting business development efforts and customer offtake agreement negotiations. The role will evolve with the project’s advancement into operations
.- Support pre-production commercial activities and offtake development, including assisting with the identification, evaluation, and execution of potential offtake agreements with strategic customers and partners.
- Contribute to commercial and deal analyses, including market assessments, customer qualification, pricing frameworks, volume scenarios, and financial/commercial inputs to support negotiations and internal decision-making.
- Develop, manage, and strengthen long-term relationships with direct and indirect customers and partners, including rare earth permanent magnet manufacturers, rare earth mineral processors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and other downstream market participants.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer forums, supporting business development efforts, expanding the company’s market presence, and building relationships across the rare earths and clean technology value chain.
- Maintain and actively manage the company’s CRM system and sales pipeline, ensuring accurate tracking of customer interactions, opportunities, milestones, and follow-up actions, and providing regular updates to internal stakeholders.
- Provide general support to the development and execution of commercial strategies, including market entry approaches, customer segmentation, and go-to-market planning in alignment with the company’s broader business objectives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, communications, and other internal teams to support customer technical requirements, align messaging, and ensure a coordinated approach to customer engagement and commercial delivery.
- At least 2-5 years of industrial sales experience, ideally in the metals/minerals sectors.
- Experience and demonstrated results with long term offtake agreements.
- An eagerness to learn and an ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel, up to 50%. Must be comfortable with last minute travel requests.
- High proficiency with standard computer platforms, including all Microsoft 365 software.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is required.
- A degree in either Commerce or Engineering is an asset.
- International business experience, especially with Asian and European clients, is an asset.
