Billing Coordinator

Reports to: Customer Solutions Senior Manager

Job Summary: This position is responsible for coordinating and processing the billing and related customer service activities for all HBPW services.

Essential Duties

- Maintain daily billing and service order processing and related activities.

- Identify problems and recommend changes to improve variance reports, service orders, billing database, demand meter procedures, and other billing related matters.

- Export and import meter reading data.

- Enter and process service orders.

- Coordinate with Customer Service Manager to resolve meter related data problems.

- Manage direct payment and budget billing programs; including program enrollments, removals and payment verifications.

- Verify -Meter Data Management information and new meter installations within NorthStar; update related documentation and report problems.

- Reconcile and post daily cash receipts.

- Perform daily evaluations of billing data and identify errors.

- Process overpayment refunds.

- Produce routine cycle, monthly and seasonal reports.

- Support Meter Information Systems Specialist for defined tasks.

- Perform all other tasks as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

- Associate degree in Accounting or related field; or equivalent education and experience in utility billing.

- At least one year of experience in computerized utility or related billing systems.

- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with various levels of organizational personnel.

- Experience with word processing, database and spreadsheet software applications.

- Ability to make routine mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

- At three years of experience in computerized utility billing systems.

- Experience with utility billing software (Northstar).

- Accounting or office administration experience.

- Effective workplace skills as demonstrated through WorkKeys assessments (Workplace Documents – 5, Applied Math – 5, Graphic Literacy – 5).

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

- This position offers the potential for flexibility to work remotely up to 40% per week.

- Ability to sit in one position for extended periods of time.

- Mental ability to frequently handle pressures related to working on multiple projects requiring attention to detail.

- Normal office environment with minimum discomfort due to noise, dirt and dust.
