Description: The Gas Storage Well Technician will be responsible for operating the Company’s two gas storage fields, Huntsman Gas Storage and East Cheyenne Gas Storage. Both fields comprise a total of 90 gas wells that are used to store and deliver gas as part of the overall storage operation. This position will report directly to the Huntsman Gas Storage supervisor and will serve as a liaison between the supervisor and the other storage operators. The successful candidate will have a background in well operations and will have a proficient understanding of downhole well work, equipment, and tools used in the oil and gas industry.
- Ensures storage operational reports are delivered to Gas Storage Engineering in a timely manner
- Weekly wellhead pressures for tubing and all well annuli
- Weekly wellsite surveys
- Water disposal reports
- Works with team of storage Operators to oversee well work and provide logistical support for large, well related projects
- Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and store in well files
- Collect field tickets and store in well files
- Keep workovers, wireline jobs, coil tubing projects, etc safe by making sure contractors follow procedures and by recognizing when unsafe activities are being performed
- Work with Gas Storage Engineering to plan workovers and other projects to make storage wells safer and to improve well performance
- Oversee routine well work (i.e. slickline and wireline projects, wellhead maintenance, mechanical integrity tests)
- Provide logistical support by designating safe staging areas for equipment and by assisting contract well site supervisors with minor tasks so they can stay focused on the main objective of the well work procedure
- Make improvements to storage operation
- Work with team of storage Operators to test and grease wellhead valves
- Repair valves that do not pass tests
- Perform 3 year MITs on wells
- Keep wellheads painted and well sites in pristine condition
- Maintain roadways ensuring access from emergency services
- Install/maintain well transmitters for storage wells
- Problem solve
- Troubleshoot flowline freezes and work with team to get well flowing again
- Work with Gas Storage Engineering to determine source of annular pressure
- Help solve issues related to wells, pumps, tanks, flowlines, valves, etc.
- Identify report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Actively participate in safety programs/initiatives, development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans.
- General upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment (pipeline right-of-way, gathering/storage areas, excavate/repair/coat/backfill pipelines, building construction, concrete work, paint, weed control, etc.).
- Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, regulatory, Company tariff requirements and governmental activities (PHMSA, EPA, USFS, state agencies, etc.).
- Complete all applicable documentation and record-keeping.
- Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
- Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
- Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.

- Will maintain Operator Qualification on all assigned covered tasks as determined by the direct Supervisor.

- Good record of safe work practices.
- 10 years gas well experience and gas well workover experience.
- May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision in an acceptable time frame.
- Strong customer focus and attention to detail.
- Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.

- Capable of lifting objects up to 66 pounds from the floor to waist level.
- Able to lift lightweight items (around 20 pounds) overhead and from waist to overhead.
- Proficient in carrying objects weighing up to 66 pounds over a distance of 5 feet, and lightweight items (approximately 5 pounds) over 300 feet.
- Able to push with a force of up to 49 pounds of force and pull with a force of approximately 27 ft-pounds rotational force.
- Required to perform manual material handling activities such as reaching at overhead, shoulder, waist, knee, and floor levels.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and perform lateral flexion and twisting motions.
- Capable of performing fine motor movements, grasping, pinching, and handling vibratory tools.
- Able to perform various spinal motions including bending, twisting, pivoting, and lateral flexion, as well as neck movements like extension, flexion, rotation, and lateral flexion.
- Varying working conditions from office settings to working outdoors in inclement weather conditions
- Working with and around industrial hazards.
- Frequent travel, sometimes overnight, may be required.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- Living environs will be relevant to the work location to address call outs and emergency response.
- Required to respond to after hour “call outs” due to equipment and/or operational problems as needed.
- May be required to carry a cell phone, and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
