Brief Description
Join our team for a hands-on internship supporting
maintenance outage planning and executionin a coal-fired power plant. You’ll gain experience in
project scheduling, resource coordination, and asset managementwhile working alongside experienced planners and engineers.
Key Responsibilities Outage Planning & Scheduling
- Assist in developing outage work scopes and job plans.
- Prepare work packages including labor, materials, tools, and safety considerations.
- Support schedule creation using planning software (Primavera P6, Maximo).
- Help organize pre-outage meetings and safety briefings.
- Track purchase orders, material deliveries, and contractor compliance.
- Coordinate with maintenance crews and contractors for resource readiness.
- Monitor outage progress and update schedules/KPIs.
- Participate in field walkdowns and verify work documentation.
- Support quality assurance and safety compliance.
Work Environment
This position combines office and plant-based tasks. Interns must be able to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, fall protection harness) and work around rotating equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals. Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required during outages or emergent situations.
Remote work is not available. HousingHousing will be provided for students who do not live in the area.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Energy Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with CMMS or planning software is a plus.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial environment and adhere to PPE requirements.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Exposure to large-scale outage planning and execution.
- Hands-on experience with project scheduling tools and asset management systems.
