Job Description

The Systems Installation Power Supply Manager leads all field installation activities related to traction power substations (TPSS), distribution equipment, grounding/bonding systems, power feeders, and systemwide electrical interfaces. This role ensures safe, coordinated, and technically compliant installation works to support system energization, integration, and Testing & Commissioning.

Responsibilities

- Lead all field installation activities related to traction power systems including TPSS equipment, feeders, switching equipment, rectifiers, transformers, and associated auxiliary power systems.

- Manage subcontractors, OEMs, and installation crews to ensure installation quality, technical compliance, and adherence to project specifications, codes, and standards.

- Oversee installation of all power supply components across tunnels, guideway, stations, and auxiliary facilities, ensuring correct mechanical/electrical fit-up and alignment with structural and systems interfaces.

- Review IFC drawings, installation manuals, cable schedules, grounding/bonding requirements, room layouts, and power distribution diagrams; validate constructability and installation sequencing.

- Coordinate interfaces with civil, structural, trackwork, mechanical, electrical, COMMS, SCADA, and signaling to ensure installation readiness and access availability.

- Monitor daily progress, support site coordination meetings, resolve installation issues, and ensure workfront continuity.

- Oversee installation of power cables, terminations, trays, conduits, protective devices, and distribution networks for traction and auxiliary power systems.

- Ensure all grounding, bonding, and clearance requirements meet safety-critical and electrical code standards.

- Maintain accurate installation documentation, redlines, as-built drawings, installation checklists, and configuration records for handover to Testing & Commissioning.

- Identify installation risks or constraints, evaluate impacts to schedule, and develop mitigation strategies with engineering and construction teams.

- Support material planning, long-lead equipment delivery, logistics, and storage requirements for power supply equipment.

- Ensure adherence to QA/QC, ITP inspection points, NCR resolution, and technical audits for electrical installations.

- Coordinate closely with T&C teams to ensure traction power and auxiliary power systems are ready for energization, systemwide integration, and dynamic testing.

- Support safety protocols and electrical hazard controls including lockout/tagout (LOTO), de-energization, energization readiness, and high-voltage work procedures.

Required Skills And Competencies

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; P.Eng. preferred.

- 8–12+ years of installation leadership experience on major rail, LRT, metro, or industrial power infrastructure projects.

- Strong technical understanding of: Traction power substations (rectifiers, transformers, switchgear). Distribution panels, feeders, grounding/bonding systems. Electrical protection systems, HV/LV interfaces, and power automation

- Experience managing subcontractors, OEMs, and multi-discipline coordination on complex infrastructure sites.

- Familiarity with installation standards, electrical codes, safety regulations, and system assurance requirements.

- Strong ability to interpret electrical drawings, cable routing schedules, and commissioning prerequisites.

- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and technical problem-solving skills.

- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in electrical environments.
