The Senior HR Manager, Operations is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for overseeing compensation, benefits, payroll, compensation, LTI, HRIS and core HR operations while ensuring scalable, compliant, and cost-effective people practices. This role partners closely with Finance, Legal, and business leadership to manage workforce costs, HR budgets, and operational controls, while delivering a high-quality employee experience. This position is on-site in Irvine, CA.
- Lead, direct and communicate collaboratively with HR, management and leadership to influence, employee develop, policies, programs and services related to HR
- Lead and manage the HR Operations Team (“HR Ops") including coaching, guiding, mentoring, and removing obstacles
- Handles the full spectrum of an employee life cycle from onboarding through separation and makes recommendations to Leadership to improve Recruitment and Retention Initiatives
- Oversee health & welfare benefits, vendor management, and annual renewal strategy
- Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing; partner with Finance and Payroll vendors on controls and audits.
- Manage the HR budget, including headcount planning, compensation costs, benefits spend, and vendor expenses.
- Own compensation programs, including job architecture, salary structures, market benchmarking, merit and incentive planning, and pay governance.
- Administer long-term incentive (LTI) programs, including grant processing, vesting tracking, participant communications, payout coordination, and ongoing program governance.
- Lead HRIS enhancements, integrations, and reporting capabilities to support compensation, payroll, benefits, and workforce analytics.
- Direct all HR-related insurance administration, including unemployment and workers’ compensation, ensuring effective audit management, timely renewals, and regulatory compliance.
- Keeps up-to-date with employment laws and best practices, and communicates these to management regularly
- Manage end-to-end leave of absence (LOA) administration and oversee all interactive processes, including ADA, FEHA, and other accommodation requests, ensuring compliance, documentation, and timely employee support.
- Conducts and supervises the HR Team to complete the monthly HR Operational Audits (i.e. New hire files, Termination files, WC Claims, LOA portfolio, and ACA alerts on pay data entries in HRIS-Payroll-Benefit system) to ensure 100% completion in congruence with HR Operations protocol & mandated Compliance requirements
- Periodic special projects and duties may be assigned based on Company need and requirements
- Provide guidance on company policies and HR programs and oversee the drafting, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures.
- Lead complex employee relations issues, including investigations and disciplinary actions, and partner with labor counsel to ensure compliance and advise leadership on legal matters.
- Lead efforts to ensure adherence of HR team’s workflow processes & procedures
- Maintains strict confidentiality of client, company, and personnel information; oversees and supervises the HR Team to run adhoc reports and/or process all request for employment data and verification of employments requests as necessary
Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned- A minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in HR (payroll, benefits, operations, employee relations, compliance) - A minimum 2+ years of people leader/supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management or Industrial Relations or equivalent from an accredited college or university
- Develops extensive knowledge and stays current on current federal and state-specific employment and labor laws and human resources practices including but not limited to ADA, CFRA, COBRA, DEFH, DOL, EDD, EEOC, ERISA, FEHA, FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, IRS, and all other local, state, federal agencies.
- Expert skill in conflict resolution, mediation, arbitration and negotiations
- Detail-oriented with solid legal research and analytical capabilities with advance research and writing skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Hands-on approach with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in organizations with multiple business units or legal entities
- Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, with frequent interruptions or distractions and within tight deadlines
- Experience in energy, or renewable energy sectors
- Experience supporting global or multi-state organizations
