The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is responsible for maintaining professionalism while completing all processes for the shipping department to flow efficiently.
Our Shipping/Receiving Clerk will be responsible for the following:
- Coordinate (via email) with sales department to pull and print picking slips for daily workload to be distributed to shipping personnel by Shipping Supervisor
- Process all purchase orders
- Collect all paperwork from picking personnel of prior days purchase orders and alphabetize by company to ensure multiple orders are processed together
- Guarantee that all slips were signed by the picking and packing employee as well as the Shipping Supervisor which ensures accuracy
- Prioritize shipping schedules by type and process accordingly (ex. box versus pallet shipments and group shipments)
- Complete closing process within software after each purchase order is packaged then email completed purchase order slips and bills of lading to sales office prior to actual shipping
- Verify that each purchase order was returned with original and correct customer signatures after delivery
- Schedule Appointments
- Follow protocol for special delivery locations such as schools or job sites as these may require a specific window of time for delivery and certain equipment required at the delivery site to unload the order
- Process all Freight Claims in a timely manner
- Complete a Damaged Item Report and coordinate with supervisor to have items resent to customer and adjust invoices accordingly
- Investigate Invoice Disputes
- Issues may vary from incorrect shipping costs due to weight variances or incorrect addresses – must identify and correct error and adjust invoices accordingly
The Shipping/Receiving Clerk will be required to possess the following:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must be able to work in varying temperatures and climates (outdoors/warehouse)
- Must have the physical ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Must be detailed oriented and have excellent time management
- Must always wear personal protective equipment and follow all state and federal safety guidelines as well as those set by the company
The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is expected to always maintain professionalism while efficiently and promptly processing purchase orders for the shipping and receiving department.
