Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Job Summary:

Central Tube & Bar is seeking a dependable and highly organized Shipping & Receiving Specialist to support daily warehouse operations. This role is responsible for loading and unloading trucks, verifying incoming and outgoing materials, maintaining accurate documentation, and entering data into our ERP systems. We currently operate SM3 and will be transitioning to Epicor, so comfort with ERP platforms is essential. Forklift operation is a must for this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Shipping

- Pick, pack, and prepare outgoing orders according to customer and internal requirements

- Safely and efficiently operate a forklift to load trucks

- Verify shipment accuracy, including item numbers, quantities, and packaging

- Obtain the driver’s signature on all BOLs, and ensure that the shipping documents and packing slips are securely attached to the product being shipped.

- Tag and stage outgoing materials in the correct locations

- Maintain an organized staging area to ensure smooth workflow

Receiving

- Unload incoming trucks using a forklift and inspect materials for accuracy and damage

- Match received items to packing slips, purchase orders, and SM3 entries

- Tag, label, and route materials to proper storage areas

- Report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods immediately

- Keep receiving areas clean, orderly, and well‑organized

ERP & Documentation

- Enter shipping and receiving data into SM3 accurately

- Support the transition to Epicor by learning new workflows and system processes

- Use RF scanners or warehouse software to track inventory movement

- Maintain accurate records of all inbound and outbound materials

- Ensure documentation is complete, organized, and filed correctly

Warehouse Operations

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

- Follow all safety procedures, including load securement and equipment operation

- Communicate effectively with warehouse, production, and purchasing teams

- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits

- Support general warehouse duties as needed

Requirements:

- Forklift experience required

- 2+ year experience in shipping, receiving, or material handling

- Experience reading packing slips, BOLs, and verifying counts

- ERP system experience (SM3 required, Epicor or similar systems a plus)

- Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and work on your feet throughout the shift

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain clean, orderly work areas

- Basic computer skills and familiarity with scanners or warehouse software

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy

- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

- Experience in a manufacturing or metal processing environment

- Knowledge of load securement and warehouse safety practices

- Experience with ERP transitions or system upgrades
