About This Job

Our Business:

Engineered Intelligence is a utility infrastructure technology company headquartered in Calgary with offices in Toronto, and additional locations opening in the US. Our software is used by many of North America’s most reliable electric utilities to manage their physical grid assets and optimize intervention and investment decision-making. We do this by digitally modelling the entire electrical network to see how it reacts under various scenario simulations. We leverage robust statistics, reliability engineering principles, and machine learning to provide defensible recommendations for our customers’ short- and long-term asset performance management, capital spend, and planning strategies.

One of our core differentiators is the technical experience and support our clients receive. In addition to our software solution, we provide subject matter expertise, engineering services, consultation, and many other support activities to ensure our clients are successful. We speak our customers’ language; our team is full of former electrical utility industry professionals who are uniquely suited to address the specific challenges associated with managing electrical infrastructure within a heavily regulated environment. In fact, Engineered Intelligence was created by engineers working on the deliverables supported by our platform at some of North America’s largest and most recognized electrical utilities.

Our core values include:

Teamwork - Teamwork is about investing in our people. Employee engagement, training & development, and providing various opportunities for growth. Great people do great things together. We support each other, share knowledge, and collaborate to solve complex challenges that no one can tackle alone.

‍Customer Commitment- To reach the level of success we aspire to, we need to place our customers at the center of every decision. What challenges are they or the industry facing? How can we continue to solve these pain points? How can we innovate to prevent future challenges before they appear? Customer commitment is going beyond sales; it’s making a promise and then over-delivering so that our customers become our external sales team.

Innovation - Innovation covers more than creating new products/services. Innovation also means adopting an innovative mindset for how we approach the day-to-day. This includes assessing how we think, work, or communicate and identifying opportunities to improve. We rethink the status quo from the ground up. By embracing diverse perspectives and challenging assumptions, we create solutions that move the industry forward and redefine what’s possible in utility planning. We are willing to break the status quo and create new ways of doing things to drive the team forward.

Ownership- We take initiative, follow through, and hold ourselves accountable. From the smallest detail to the biggest decision, we own the outcome.

Who We Are:

We are a lean, well-established, mid-size company experiencing sustained, fast and intentional growth. Our team of professionals is fully remote, spanning across Canada, the United States and Europe with optional in-person office spaces for collaborative work and hosting clients.

The Position:

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Data Integrations Engineer (AWS/ SQL/ ETL Pipelines) to lead the growth and evolution of our data integration capabilities. This is a pivotal, foundational role—responsible not only for building and maintaining integration pipelines but also for defining best practices, documentation standards, and support models that will enable our integrations team to scale effectively.

In this role, you will take full ownership of our existing ETL workflows while driving the modernization and expansion of our integration ecosystem. This includes incorporating new data sources, APIs, and event-driven architectures to support evolving business needs.

As the first dedicated integration hire, you will have the unique opportunity to shape and establish a high-performing integration services function from the ground up, playing a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

- Own and maintain data ingestion pipelines and workflows from external sources into our analytics platform

- Take over and document existing ETL processes and ensure smooth knowledge transfer and continuity

- Define and establish integration best practices, development standards, and deployment processes

- Build scalable and reliable data pipelines using modern ETL/ELT tools and frameworks

- Lead efforts in data validation, quality assurance, error handling, and monitoring across integration layers

- Support onboarding of new clients and third-party data sources, including file-based, database, and API integrations

- Collaborate closely with product, data engineering, analytics, and customer-facing teams to define data contracts and SLAs

- Provide mentorship, guidance and support hiring as the integration function grows into a dedicated team

- Evaluate and recommend modern integration tooling and architectural improvements

- Ensure comprehensive documentation, traceability, and support procedures are in place for all integration processes

While this is a remote position, we are looking for a candidate based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. Engineered Intelligence has an office in the GTA and there will be occasional need to attend in-person meetings depending on project/client needs.

Skills & Qualifications:

- 5+ years of experience in data integration, ETL/ELT development, or data engineering roles

- Proven ability to design and manage robust integration architectures, including both batch and API-driven pipelines

- Strong proficiency in SQL and data transformation logic

- Experience with a range of ETL tools and cloud data services

- Deep understanding of data warehousing, modeling, data contracts, and data quality principles

- Comfortable owning both hands-on implementation and higher-level architectural planning

- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services, preferably AWS

- Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills

- Ability to operate independently and drive initiatives in a fast-paced work environment

Nice to Have:

- Experience establishing integration or data operations functions from the ground up

- Familiarity with DevOps practices for data pipelines (CI/CD, GitOps)

- Exposure to event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis…)

- Experience mentoring or leading other developers

What We Offer:

- Remote-First Work Environment Enjoy the flexibility of remote work with office space available in Toronto for in-person collaboration.

- Flexible Hours Work around a core schedule (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM) while maintaining a work-life balance that suits you.

- Autonomy & Growth Take ownership of diverse responsibilities, explore cross-disciplinary opportunities, and advance your career in a dynamic, fast-growing company.

- Impactful Work Leverage your skills to contribute meaningfully, build an impressive track record, and be part of an exciting business from its early stages.

- Engaging Team Culture Join a supportive, interactive, and collaborative remote work environment

- Competitive Compensation Receive a competitive salary and flexible benefits package.

- Paid Time Off & Wellness Support Enjoy generous paid time off, and Health Spending Accounts to prioritize your well-being.
