About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Reporting to the Chief Metallurgist, the Refiner, Gold room will be responsible for day-to-day operation of the gold room, ensuring processing, security, data collection and production targets are met accurately and in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Ensure all tasks are completed in a safe, environmentally conscious manner and compliant with all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain the day to day running of the gold room to ensure the smooth and continual elution and stripping process is always maintained.
- Maintain the day-to-day gold room security.
- Wash electrowinning cells to recover gold sludge
- Record all sludge (CIP and gravity) concentrates and bar weights in the appropriate register.
- General housekeeping duties to ensure that the process plant and work area is maintained to a high standard.
- Carry out data collection and maintain accurate data entry logs.
- Establish effective working relationships with metallurgy and maintenance personnel to achieve high plant reliability and production targets.
- Train and mentor Junior refiners
- Conduct workplace inspections.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Secondary School Diploma or GED.
- Mill Common Core required.
- Experience with Surface Emergency Response would be considered an asset.
- Must be familiar with gold milling and refining processes.
- Knowledge of the Delta V Process Control System is considered an asset
- At least two years of refining experience
- Knowledge of goldroom processes.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather and conditions. This will be 7 day on 7 day off rotation, and will rotate between day and night shift.
