The Ranch Hand is responsible for supporting daily ranch operations and ensuring the health, safety, and productivity of the cattle herd and ranch property. This role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to perform a wide range of farm and livestock-related tasks.
- Prioritize and maintain the overall health, welfare, and safety of the cattle herd.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with supervisor directives.
- Perform routine ranch and property maintenance, including but not limited to: cattle feeding, weed control, mowing, grass seeding, dirt road upkeep, equipment servicing, fence repair and maintenance, and rock removal.
- Assist with livestock handling activities such as administering inoculations, banding, and tagging calves.
- Support and implement rotational grazing plans according to guidance from ranch supervisors.
- Unload and properly store hay, grain, and other deliveries in designated storage areas.
- Conduct regular inspections of water sources, fence lines, and pasture conditions to ensure safe and proper operation.
- Mix, handle, and apply herbicides safely and in compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on the operational needs of the ranch.
- Knowledge of safety practices when working around cattle, livestock guardian animals, machinery, and heavy equipment.
- Prior experience working with cattle required.
- Proficiency operating farm equipment such as skid steers, tractors, loaders, pickup trucks, sprayers, and similar machinery.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision when necessary.
- Valid driver’s license required.
