Quality Engineer (Oil & Gas Manufacturing)

Solstice Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer for our energy & environmental manufacturing client based in Houston, Texas. Role is HYBRID 3-

4 days per week in the West Houston office with up to 40% travel as necessary.

- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related field and 5+ years of quality engineering experience

- Experience in oil & gas equipment manufacturing and Lean Manufacturing practices strongly preferred

- Base salary $100k - $135k DOE plus bonus opportunity and excellent benefits

Overview:

The Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving Company’s Quality Management System (QMS). Responsible for implementing quality assurance processes that monitor, inspect, assess, and enhance operational practices. This position is essential in driving preventive and corrective measures to eliminate defects and reduce process variability.

Role Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement quality control procedures and standards.

- Conduct tests and inspections to ensure products meet specifications.

- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

- Collaborate with production, engineering, supply chain, suppliers and customers to address quality issues.

- Document and report findings and recommend corrective actions.

- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.

- Train and mentor staff on quality control processes and best practices.

- Integrate quality processes throughout the organization to drive performance improvement and reduce the COPQ in both products and services.

- Implement qualification, testing, and inspection procedures and/or Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans throughout product and service delivery (e.g. Source, Receiving, In

- Analyze product and service-related data to support prevention and resolution of quality issues.

- Audit quality systems for compliance and address identified findings and risks.

- Exhibit good understanding of the company's QMS and quality requirements.

- Train teams on quality management systems, continuous improvement techniques (Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma), and defect prevention practices.

- Assess and optimize processes by identifying improvement areas and implementing effective solutions that lead to continuous/cost improvements.

- Understand the reporting and analysis of quality metrics.

- Collaborate with Supplier Quality to monitor and improve supplier performance.

- Lead Root Cause investigations for significant issues and ensure corrective action is implemented to prevent recurrence of discrepancies.

Understanding of Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean Techniques.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and 5+ years in a Quality Engineer role

- Proven experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or related roles.

- Experience in manufacturing in the oil & gas equipment sector preferred

- Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience using tools such as SPC, Minitab, and root cause analysis methods.

- Strong understanding of Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean Techniques.

- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and train staff in quality tools, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement.

- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations; experience with ISO 9001:2015 and ASME is a plus.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, quality/ERP software, and data analysis tools.

- Professional certifications (Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) preferred.
