Location: Troy, TX Reports To: Plant Manager / Director of Quality
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading and executing the Quality Management System (QMS) at the Troy manufacturing facility. This role ensures all products meet ASME, API, UL, and customer‑specific requirements while supporting safe, efficient production. The position is hands‑on, shop‑floor oriented, and critical to restoring disciplined execution, inspection readiness, and customer confidence at Troy.
This role owns quality execution, not just documentation, and works closely with Production, Engineering, Project Management, and third‑party inspectors.
- Execute and maintain the facility QMS in alignment with ASME, API, UL, and customer requirements
- Ensure current drawings, procedures, WPSs, travelers, and ITPs are correctly released and used on the floor
- Lead internal audits and support external audits (ASME, UL, customer, AI, third‑party inspectors)
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify effectiveness
- Ensure inspections, hold points, and verifications are performed at the right time in production
- Oversee QC staffing alignment with production schedules
- Support operations (shop floor and supervisors) and QCs with real‑time issue resolution
- Validate inspection reports, test records, and job packets prior to closeout
- Coordinate and support AI, National Board, NDE providers, and third‑party inspectors
- Ensure timely scheduling and readiness for inspections
- Review U‑1A packages, MDRs, coating documentation, and turnover packages
- Serve as the primary quality point of contact during customer and inspector visits
- Own NCR, rework, and customer complaint processes
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Track quality KPIs (NCRs, rework trends, audit findings, complaints)
- Report trends and improvement actions to plant and corporate leadership
- Train welders, QCs, supervisors, and production leaders on quality expectations
- Ensure understanding of customer specs, ITPs, travelers, and inspection requirements
- Lead regular quality meetings with QC staff
- Coach quality personnel to raise consistency and accountability- 7+ years of quality experience in ASME pressure vessel, API tank, or fabricated equipment manufacturing
- Strong working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, API 12F / 12D / 650, and inspection practices
- Experience supporting AI, National Board, NDE, and third‑party inspections
- Proven ability to operate on the shop floor and resolve issues in real time
- Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to balance quality requirements with production flow
- Prior Quality Manager or Lead QC role in an ASME‑certified facility
- Experience in UL‑listed products and customer‑driven inspection plans
- Welding/coating, inspection, or CWI/NACE/AMPP background
- Experience rebuilding or stabilizing a quality organization in a growing plant
