Reporting to the Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager (QCIM), the Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) is responsible for championing the development, implementation, and maintenance of all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS). In addition, provide leadership, direction, and expertise in quality assurance to ensure we meet Regulatory, Licensor, Customer, and Argus internal requirements, as applicable.
The QAM is a member of the Argus Leadership Team and is responsible for strategic planning, providing insight, support, and direction in developing the corporate Quality goals, principles, and vision.
Role accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the Argus Quality Assurance (QA) Department, taking responsibility for all personnel and activity within the department.
- Coordinate and conduct internal and external audits for all Argus sites to ensure compliance with quality management systems (ISO 9001, API Q1, ABSA), responsible for all process-related findings, including Corrective Action Report (CAR) and Preventative Action Report (PAR) investigation and actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Argus Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring that it continuously meets with regulatory bodies, thread licensor, and customer requirements.
- Approve and maintain supply chain partners as required to ensure their manufacturing processes meet Argus’ Quality requirements.
- Ensure all management review aspects of our quality systems are met through the sharing of Quality information and addressing issues with the Executive Team and at Leadership Team meetings, holding separate meetings as necessary.
- Lead or participate in all Licensor Quality Audits, responsible for all process-related findings, including Corrective Action Report (CAR) and actions to prevent recurrence.
- Write, revise, and maintain Argus QMS Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Control Forms, and any other QMS documentation.
- Ensure proper Argus QMS records maintenance.
- Ensure that only current Argus, licensor, registrar, and customer documentation is used for Argus operations.
- Ensure adequate employee training on Argus QMS.
- Oversee monthly CAR and CAR reports to Managers and Supervisors.
- Lead Management Review Meetings.
- In collaboration with QCIM and Human Resources, attract, recruit, retain, reward, and develop members of the QA department.
- Work with the Quality Control Manager and Plant Supervisors to determine the Quality and Licensor training required by all Argus employees. Review and approve as required.
- Build a collaborative, positive, and inclusive culture flexible to changing employee demographics.
- Manage direct report; lead and promote growth within the department, achieving success through effective training, goal setting, performance management, and accountability to role expectations and goals.
- Support employees in company-wide training initiatives and meetings by providing time and resources to attend.
- Complete performance evaluation of direct report, providing feedback at a minimum on areas relating to operations, continuous improvement, quality, and safety.
- Advocate and mentor on all aspects of Risk Management within the QMS department.
- Monitor and report on the performance of the QMS to the Executive and Senior Management Team as required.
- Champion of Continuous Improvement culture throughout Argus; actively promoting continuous improvement principles through respectful discussion, participation in events, and authorizing project charters for activities planned in the Quality department or which involve employees from the Quality department.
- Identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement (CI) within the Quality department and work with the QCIM to develop, plan, and deliver CI initiatives aligned to Argus’ strategic goals and visions.
- Champion safe work practices: promote Safety by providing necessary resources, equipment, and PPE as defined by the organization. Complete, when requested, a site inspection of the facilities and communicate results to the Health and Safety Committee.
- Be a leader in Change Management.- 10+ years’ experience in a QA/QC position in a machine shop/manufacturing environment or similar. - 3+ years’ experience in supervisory/managerial role; responsible for the direct supervision of personnel.
- Technical training or post-secondary education in Machining, Engineering, Quality, or Business Management is preferred.
- ISO Auditor certification is considered an asset.
- Experience leading the implementation of QMS, process design, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Experienced at leading a QMS team and training employees in a quality management system.
- Experienced in using computer software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Dynamics AX.
- General knowledge of products and services in relation to the oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of safe work practices, Quality Assurance requirements, and Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing) principles, and the ability to impart that knowledge to others.
