Quality Assurance Manager - Aerospace Machining - $95,000-$120,000 DOE
Westwood Precision, a contract manufacturer of precision machined aerospace, medical and commercial parts, and assemblies. We are a 40-year-old company that continues to grow with both an established and growing customer base. Westwood Precision is an ISO 9001/ AS9100 Rev D as well as ISO 13485 Certified Company that currently employs over 40 people. We specialize in Cellular manufacturing, multi-Axis turning, Swiss Turning and Milling of close tolerance and complex Avionics, Aerospace hydraulic and medical items.
The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will oversee the activity of the quality assurance department and staff, developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality to ISO 9001/AS9100 Rev D as well as ISO 13485 registration.
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the following:
- Creates and implements company quality standards.
- Accomplishes quality assurance objectives by monitoring, reviewing, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Trains and motivates employees to ensure that quality standards are met.
- Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing to information analysis.
- Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses and monitoring procedures.
- Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes.
- Assists in the recruiting process.
- Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, and compliance audits.
- Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Able to verify parts meet the drawing dimensions and requirements during process and final inspections.
- Have working knowledge of C.M.M. inspection equipment.
Proficient in using inspection tools, and height gauges.
- Reads, understands, and interprets engineering and manufacturing drawings. Strong working knowledge of GD&T.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Hires and trains quality assurance staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Works closely with Human Resources to address employee concerns.
- Excellent data analyzing and review skills.

- Ability to teach and mentor the department staff.

Qualified candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Five plus years' supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement activity preferred.
- Must be able to work with machinists and solve complex problems without supervision, as well as solving all routine problems that occur. Must be able to work independently.
- Working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing (basic oral instructions, simple written memos and instructions).
- The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who will proactively improve the quality systems of the company through internal audits, participation in process improvement programs, and interaction with key partners to obtain constructive feedback.
