Magna Mining’s key objective is to become the next nickel and copper producing company in Canada by executing a growth strategy that is focused exclusively on the historic nickel producing district of Sudbury, ON.
We intend to achieve this objective via the creation of a Sudbury focused, hub and spoke production model, with our existing Shakespeare project as the hub. The path to the creation of a significant new battery metals producing Canadian company is to execute a long term, multi-faceted growth strategy.
The Project Geologist, Exploration will work collaboratively with the exploration team to generate, prioritize, and evaluate exploration targets with Magna Mining Incorporated’s mines and exploration properties.

- Execute exploration programs, including but not limited to, mapping, soil sampling, drill rig supervision, core logging, managing field logistics, collection of geological data, and evaluation of results.
- Ensure that core logging is done to the agreed standard and ensure that logs are captured in the relevant geological database.
- Ensure data capture is subjected to rigorous quality control.
- Participate in exploration program planning to ensure that programs are designed considering alternative options, costs, target rankings, and are in line with Magna Mining’s strategy.
- Participate in reducing overall exploration costs through effective management, option analysis, minimizing delay times, control of consumables etc.
- Develop property, deposit-scale and regional geological models as exploration progresses (lithology, structure, alteration, and mineralization).
- Ensure exploration targets are reviewed / updated, ranked and staged programs defined, scheduled and costs accounted for.
- Ensure drilling programs are progressing, and results are communicated to management in a timely fashion.
- Ensure optimal drilling schedule is adhered to and deliver priority targets in timely manner.
- Ensuring the importation of information into relevant storage and modelling software and update the model to identify areas of further exploration.
- Post-secondary education in Geology, or a related field.
- Professional Geologist designation in Ontario or eligibility to obtain the designation is required.
- 5 or more years of mineral exploration experience.
- Established knowledge of the principles and practices of geology.
- Proficient with common computer skills including preparation of documents and presentations, spreadsheet use, database data entry, and email use.
- Skill using or ability to learn industry-standard software packages (MxDeposit, Datamine, QGIS).
- Use of a compass, maps, and handheld GPSs.
- Proficiency with geological modelling software and core logging software (MX deposit, Datamine, QGIS) and data management skills.
- Ability to work in adverse weather and terrain.
- Valid driver’s license and comfort with bush road navigation, off-road vehicles (ei., snowmobiles & ATV’s) and watercraft.
