Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated Project Geologist for a direct placement opportunity with one of our valued clients in the mining industry. The successful candidate will support and execute exploration programs focused on the discovery and delineation of Carlin-style mineralization in Nevada. This role offers hands-on field responsibility, exposure to advanced exploration techniques, and opportunities for professional growth within a technically driven exploration team. The role requires leadership in field and operational safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and manage field-based exploration programs including geologic mapping, soil and rock sampling, drill core and RC chip logging, and data interpretation.
- Apply sound understanding of Carlin-type gold systems, including stratigraphy, structure, alteration, geophysics, and geochemical signatures.
- Assist with drill targeting, drill program execution, and daily drill supervision.
- Interpret geologic, geochemical, and geophysical datasets to refine exploration targets.
- Maintain accurate and well-documented field notes, logs, and digital databases.
- Prepare technical memos, maps, cross sections, and presentations to communicate exploration results.
- Work closely with senior geologists, contractors, and field crews to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Follow company safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Collection of field data to support environmental reporting.
- B.S. in Geology or related field (M.S. preferred).
- Current surface MSHA compliant certification.
- 5-8 years of professional experience in Carlin- type gold systems. A diverse background of exploration and in-mine experience is preferred.
- Hands-on understanding of Nevada tectonostratigraphy, hydrothermal and thermal alteration styles associated with Carlin-type deposits.
- Experience with RC and core drilling techniques for +800-meter-deep holes, detailed RC and core logging, sampling procedures, and QA/QC protocols.- Proficiency with industry-standard software (e.g., GIS, Leapfrog, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in remote field environments.
- Applicant must provide a 4-wheel drive vehicle capable of offroad travel, vehicle insurance, and a current valid driver’s license.
- Experience with geochemical interpretation, multi-element datasets, and geochemical patterns associated with Carlin-type gold systems.
- Familiar with geophysical surveys associated with Carlin-type gold systems.
- Prior experience working on Nevada exploration projects.
