Job Summary

Firefly Metals is seeking a Project Geologist to support active mineral exploration programs in the Baie Verte region of Newfoundland and Labrador. The role is field-focused and involves supporting drilling activities, conducting site inspections, contributing to geological data collection, and assisting with basic GIS and map preparation. The Project Geologist will report directly to the Senior Exploration Geologist and assist with the day-to-day execution of exploration programs.

Qualifications & Experience

- BSc in Geology or Earth Sciences

- 3–6 years of mineral exploration experience

- Experience working in field-based exploration programs, including exposure to drilling activities

- Working knowledge of GIS and map preparation (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar)

- Familiarity with exploration QA/QC procedures and data management

- Experience with 3D geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog) considered an asset

- Valid driver’s license and willingness to work on a 2-week on / 2-week off rotation

Key Responsibilities

- Support strong health, safety, and environmental performance at drill sites, core shacks, and field locations, including routine inspections and hazard identification

- Visit and monitor drill operations to ensure work is completed in accordance with approved programs and safety requirements

- Conduct geological logging, sampling, and field observations as required

- Assist with geological mapping, data compilation, and preparation of field and summary maps

- Maintain accurate geological records, databases, and sample tracking

- Assist with QA/QC procedures for sampling, assays, and data management

- Communicate field observations, progress, and issues to the Senior Exploration Geologist

- Coordinate with drilling contractors, technicians, and other field personnel
