Job Summary:
The Production/Exploration Geologist will report to the Chief Geologist and will be crucial in overseeing the supply and quality of ore to our processing facilities. They will use established procedures, conduct visual inspections, collect underground geological samples, correlate data and advise appropriate person responsible for production activities. This role involves rigorous assessment and quality control to maintain and enhance our production standards.
- Lead by example, perform safety audits and maintain adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct geological mapping and sampling in underground development and production areas.
- Support grade control activities, including sampling, assay validation, grade estimation and blending.
- Identify and Implement improvements in grade and ground control processes.
- Oversee drilling activities including setup, alignment, and supervision of drill holes.
- Perform geological mapping, sampling and drilling to identify mineral resources.
- Log cores, collect geological data and maintain accurate records for geological and assay databases.
- Analyze geological data to create maps, cross-sections, and reports for project evaluations.
- Design and manage exploration programs while ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
- Work with production and exploration teams to share findings and provide geological insights.
- Maintain confidentiality, contribute to team efforts, and continuously develop geological knowledge and skills.
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations for Mines and Mining, Plant and all other applicable government standards and regulations.
- Open to travel with a boat mine site to diamond drill rig.
- Carry out other tasks assigned by the Chief Geologist.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field from a 4-year college or university; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 + years of experience in mining geology, preferably underground.- Proficient with AutoCAD, Deswik and Promine; and/or equivalent modeling software.
- The ability to lead/guide others and communicate to other departments to achieve the company's drilling and production goals.
