Rotational schedule travel to field sites in Northwestern BC (Iskut) or Yukon (3 Aces) as required.
This is a great opportunity for an individual to join our team. Reporting to Vice President, Exploration, your primary responsibility will be overseeing the drill program, personnel and contractors at one of the project sites.
· Manage all aspects of an advanced diamond drill program, including logistics, personnel and contractors, safety and environment.
· Provide technical leadership to the exploration team including review, targeting, development of regional and deposit-scale geological models (lithology, structure, alteration, and mineralization).
· Perform detailed interpretation, analysis, and continuous improvement in understanding the controls on copper and gold mineralization at the existing deposits, and collaboration in refining and developing exploration targets.
· Oversee collection, compilation, QAQC & data management, and interpretation of geological information from exploration programs including diamond drilling, mapping, geophysics, and surface sampling.
· Oversee and monitor project spend including tracking and managing invoices
· Maintain the highest level of commitment to occupational health and safety, environment and sustainability, and community initiatives.
· Maintain an inclusive and collaborative work environment and provide technical coaching, training and mentoring for junior staff.
· The successful candidate must exhibit a passion for exploration and a drive for discovery.
· A minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral exploration-related roles with ~2 years of experience managing diamond drill programs, exploration teams, and contractors.
· B.Sc. degree in geology/geoscience from an accredited university; a related post-graduate degree is considered an asset.
· Specific experience in porphyry deposit exploration, with sound knowledge of deposit models and geology, ore forming processes, and exploration methods.
· The ability to work effectively at a variety of scales and ability to guide exploration activities and evaluations at district and deposit scales.
· Must be results oriented with excellent organizational, planning, management, and decision-making skills.
· Must have excellent communication (written and verbal), facilitation and interpersonal skills and experience working with a broad range of people.
· Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Leapfrog, 2D GIS, logging software; experience with Acquire databases an asset.
· Must be registered as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo).
The role is fly-in/fly-out during the field season, working on a regular rotational schedule of 3 weeks on and 2 weeks off for the duration of the Exploration Program (May-October). Before and after field season the role is home based with Monday to Friday schedule, and some travel may be required on as needed basis.
Target bonus for this position is 20% of base salary. Bonus is subject to board approval.
Registered Retirement Savings Plan, company will match up to 200% of the incumbent’s contribution up to 2.5% of base salary
