The Outside Sales position is responsible for driving sales growth in an assigned market by expanding existing accounts and developing new business to maximize profitability and market penetration.
Base Salary: $80,168.40 - $120,000.00 + Incentive Program
Most employees start between $80,168.40 - $100,000. The higher end of the range, $120,000.00, is reserved for candidates with exceptional experience or qualifications.
- Execute Strategic Sales Plans
Implement company-driven and personal sales strategies to achieve growth targets and support overall business objectives.
- Build and Maintain Customer Relationships
Develop strong partnerships with key accounts and prospective customers through a mix of in-person visits, video conferencing, and digital communication platforms.
- Promote Value-Added Solutions
Encourage customers to deepen their relationship with Seaport Steel and Oregon Metal Services by introducing cost-saving programs, inventory management solutions, and process efficiencies.
- Own the Customer Experience
Take full responsibility for all interactions with assigned accounts, ensuring a seamless and professional experience across all touchpoints.
- Coordinate Order Fulfillment
Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to guarantee timely, accurate deliveries with the highest quality standards.
- Resolve Issues Proactively
Collaborate with internal departments to address and resolve customer concerns related to material quality, order accuracy, and delivery performance.
- Territory Engagement
Travel throughout the assigned region to meet with customers, conduct site visits, and identify new business opportunities.
- Leverage Digital Tools for Transparency
Document all customer interactions, quotes, and feedback in Microsoft Teams to provide real-time visibility for the sales team and leadership.
- Partner with Inside Sales
Work in tandem with inside sales representatives to ensure customer service expectations are consistently met.
- Report and Share Insights
Prepare and present market updates, customer feedback, and performance metrics during weekly sales meetings.

- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (2-4 years in sales with steel experience preferred).
- Communication: Ability to read and interpret business materials, write reports, and present information to managers, customers, and teams.
- Math Skills: Proficient in calculating gross profits, sales margins and percentages; basic algebra and geometry.
- Problem-Solving: Skilled in handling practical challenges and interpreting written, oral, and diagram instructions.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office™, Eniteo™ a plus, and capable of leveraging digital tools and online platforms for research and market analysis.
- Work Environment: Field-based role requiring driving approximately 75% of the time.
