Assistant Production Manager
Matalco Kentucky is hiring for a key role at our aluminum remelt manufacturing plant in Franklin, Ky. The Assistant Production Manager leads our manufacturing processes to ensure that safety, quality, and production goals are accomplished. He/She directs and facilitates all manufacturing operations to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery of products to our customers. This is a hands-on, boots on the floor position with our team members and with our processes.
Key Responsibilities:•Coach and lead our people initiatives, developing your team of production operators, team leads, and supervisors.
•Facilitate changeovers and process monitoring and control; lead production teams to maintain production consistency in manufacturing quality products for our customers.
•Analyze key metrics for trends and identify process improvement opportunities.
•Partner with our materials team on least cost charging initiatives.
•Assist the Production Manager with daily reporting and project management.
•Respond to and resolve deviations, discrepancies, or non-conforming material to make appropriate corrections or adjustments to processes.
•Lead by example, apply, and provide accountability for all safety programs, including participation in safety practices, LOTO programs, and wearing of PPE. Lead company strategic initiatives connected with safety.
•Drive accountability of performance and adherence to processes. Foster an environment that promotes, recognizes, and rewards goal achievement and exemplary effort.
Qualifications:
•Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
•Five years progressive leadership experience, coaching others to success.
•Ability to work independently with tight schedules and high standards of excellence.
•Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
•Excellent understanding of cast house manufacturing processes.
•Strong understanding and application of 5S and safety.
•Meticulous attention to detail with ability to research and problem solve.
•Ability to present and communicate with all levels of employees.
•Effective interpersonal communication skills.
•Flexibility in working hours to be available when needed.
•OSHA knowledge an advantage.
Physical Requirements:
•High frequency of visually monitoring production processes, quality defects, HMI and PLC panels, and scrap conditions.
•Frequent data entry of production data.
•Low frequency of confined space entry.
•Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
•Regular frequency use of forklift/mobile equipment.
•Low frequency of lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, and reaching into tight working areas.
•Frequent visual and audio monitoring of processes.
•Low frequency climbing over four feet.
•Low frequency of overhead crane operation.
•High frequency of data entry of production information.
•Low frequency of travel to other plants or customer sites.
Working Conditions
•Frequent exposure to molten metal at temperatures reaching 1300 degrees F.
•Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures.
•Frequent exposure to overhead loads.
•Frequent exposure to possible pinch points.
•Frequent exposure to loud noise and dust.
