Assistant Production Manager

The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager in optimizing production efficiency, ensuring product quality, on time delivery, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Enforce strategies developed by the Plant Manager and Executive Management to optimize production efficiency, minimize downtime, ensure on time delivery, and reduce costs.
Assist to oversee day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant, production scheduling, shift scheduling, preventative maintenance scheduling and quality control.
Work with the Supervisors and Plant Manager to create work schedules.
Identify training gaps and ensure training is being completed for all new hires and existing hires.
Ensure all Safety Training is being conducted by coordinating training with the EHS Manager and identifying additional training needs.
Lead and mentor employees on the production floor to achieve production targets performance objectives set up by the company.
Lead and influence the plant with a positive Safety culture promoting safety awareness and safe practices.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and environmental regulations, regarding to processes and practices occurring on the production floor.
Implement best practices in manufacturing and other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and drive cost savings.
Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and innovation to achieve operational excellence, and low turnover, by working with the Plant Manager, Supervisors and HR Team.
Finish any additional tasks as assigned by Executive Management and/or Plant Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS

Proven track record of success in a manufacturing leadership role, with at least 10 years of experience in plant management or operations management, preferably in the aluminum metals industry.
Strong technical expertise in manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality systems.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a data-driven and results-oriented mindset.
Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook
Ability to balance and achieve positive results in safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations.

Most of the time is spent on the plant production floor where there is weather and nonweather related hot or humid conditions, extreme cold, working near moving mechanical parts or equipment.
The noise level in the work environment is quiet in the office, but can be loud when on the production floor, warehouse or loading areas.
Maintain availability to be available as needed during production hours ensuring supportive, efficient, safe and accountable production operations.
