Responsible for the management of internal and external communication for the cooperative, keeping reputation management as its highest priority.
Writes, creates, develops, and implements the cooperative’s digital and print communications in and through publications, campaigns, community programs, and communication plans with the goals of enriching OTEC’s position in the public’s eye.
Four years’ experience in communications or a related field
Minimum of two years managing digital and social media platforms
Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
Proven written and verbal communication skills that capture the attention of the receiver and a strong ability to translate complex information into informative, influential, and accurate messages that are easily understood.
Must be able to read and interpret information quickly, present it clearly and accurately.
Ability to review, organize and deliver information timely and produce effective communication under pressure.
Excellent wordsmith, proofer, storyteller with full command of written English and AP Style, grammar, punctuation, spelling for both technical and creative writing.
High degree of knowledge of information delivery platforms, including all print media, all primary or trending social media, radio advertising and electronic communication tools, including Microsoft Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), Adobe Cloud products (Photoshop, In Design) and other desktop publishing software.
Skilled in digital photography, use of multi-media equipment
Manage strategy by contributing to the development of initiatives, meeting strategic goals and driving toward the organization’s vision.
Represents the cooperative by planning, developing, and implementing the cooperative’s member-facing external and internal communications plans.
Manage and implement communications strategies that ensure timely, consistent, and meaningful communications with employees, management, board of directors, public and media.
Represent the cooperative at community and business events. Assist in planning cooperative member engagement events.
Content scheduling, planning, writing, design, and production coordination for the annual communication plan to include monthly magazine, Intranet, and board reports. Write copy for print, placement, broadcast, and internet website. Design, implement, and manage social media communications and campaigns.
Develop and implement crisis communications plan, working cross departmentally where necessary for successful management of public relations both internally and externally when plan is activated.
Produce cooperative communications publications such as website, social medias, magazine and newsletter articles, speeches, presentations, brochures, and bill inserts.
Identify and research potential news stories for internal and external publications.
Coordinates with department managers, directors and employees to research and script press releases, conduct interviews, develop, and maintain media lists and media relation files.
Develop strong working relationships with all local media and respond to all media inquiries.
Serve as an OTEC representative to meetings or activities associated with local, state, national, and regional governmental entities, key accounts and community partners.
Manage Scholarship and Youth Tour programs including program promotion and coordinating scholarship selection committees.
Assist with preparation of the cooperative’s annual meeting, including promotion, balloting, ballot, and election, printed program, agendas and annual report, exhibits and multimedia program.
Participate in cooperative strategy and initiatives including execution and communications. This is a full-time position. This position requires that the employee be available for work outside the normal daily work period.
Travel may be required within the four-county service territory during the business day and infrequently overnight. Occasional out of the area travel is expected to attend various activities such as meetings, training and other events.
