The Planner/Scheduler will be responsible for the effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of all activities associated with plant turnaround (TAR) events. This includes developing detailed work plans, estimating resources, sequencing work activities, and monitoring progress to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective completion of turnaround projects within an oil and gas production or refining facility.
- Develop and maintain detailed turnaround work plans and schedules using approved planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or SAP).
- Work with operations, maintenance, engineering, and HSE teams to scope all turnaround work, ensuring all tasks are well-defined and resourced.
- Identify required materials, tools, and equipment; coordinate procurement and logistics to ensure availability before execution.
- Estimate manpower, duration, and costs for each work package to support budgeting and resource allocation.
- Sequence work logically to minimize downtime and ensure optimal utilization of labor and resources.
- Participate in risk assessments and constructability reviews to identify potential execution constraints.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for schedule adherence, productivity, and cost control.
- Provide regular progress updates to management, identifying deviations from plan and recommending recovery strategies.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to align their schedules with the master turnaround timeline.
- Ensure all planning and scheduling activities comply with company HSE standards and best practices.
- Lead and participate in post-turnaround reviews to identify lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Maintenance, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance planning and scheduling within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sector.- Minimum 2 turnaround (TAR) events executed in a refinery, gas plant, or similar facility.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent scheduling tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance scopes.
- Knowledge of materials management, work order systems, and quality control procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment under tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Certification in Maintenance Planning/Scheduling (e.g., SMRP, SAP-PM Specialist, PMP).
- Experience with critical path analysis and risk-based scheduling.
- Familiarity with turnaround management systems and methodologies.
- Strong safety culture and leadership in executing HSE requirements.
- Field-based role during turnaround execution periods, office-based during planning phases.
