We are seeking a Lead Telecommunications / Network Infrastructure Engineer
to drive mission-critical network infrastructure initiatives in a secure DoD environment. This role blends
physical network infrastructure leadership (Inside Plant / Outside Plant)with
enterprise Layer 2–4 network engineering, supporting high-availability systems in classified environments.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role ideal for a senior network engineer who thrives overseeing structured cabling operations while architecting secure VLAN, routing, and segmentation strategies.
• Lead and direct ISP/OSP structured cabling teams supporting enterprise and classified environments
• Oversee fiber backbone and copper distribution design, installation, and certification
• Develop and enforce structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA, NEC compliance)
• Validate termination, labeling, testing (OTDR, fiber certification, copper analyzers), and documentation
• Review as-built drawings, cable schedules, and infrastructure diagrams
• Coordinate outage windows, cutovers, and infrastructure upgrades with minimal operational disruption
• Ensure compliance with DoD security standards, DISA STIGs, and RMF controls
• Design and implement VLAN architectures and network segmentation strategies
• Configure Layer 2 switching, trunking, spanning tree, and QoS
• Develop IP addressing schemes, subnetting, and Layer 3 routing configurations
• Troubleshoot across OSI Layers 1–4 (physical through network layer)
• Configure routing protocols, ACLs, and secure traffic flows
• Perform network performance analysis and infrastructure capacity planning
• Serve as the technical authority for network infrastructure and cabling environments
• Support vulnerability remediation and secure configuration baselines
• Maintain accurate network documentation and change management records
• Support incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure outages
• Active Secret clearance
• IAT Level II Certification (Security+, CySA+, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP, or equivalent)
• 8+ years of enterprise network engineering experience
• Extensive leadership experience managing ISP/OSP structured cabling teams
• Deep knowledge of fiber optic and copper infrastructure standards (TIA/EIA)
• Strong hands-on experience with VLAN design, Layer 2 switching, and Layer 3 routing
• Proven ability to troubleshoot across physical and logical network layers
• Cisco CCNP or higher (Enterprise or equivalent)
• Experience supporting classified or secure DoD enclaves
• Fiber backbone design and data center infrastructure buildout experience
• Experience with network monitoring, infrastructure documentation, and capacity planning tools
