The Savannah Machinery Works (SMW) is hiring a Machinist Team Lead for Heavy Machining. The Team Lead role is vital for the continued success of SMW. Each team leader is expected to be a working lead who also serves as the primary resource and contact for his/her area of expertise. The roles and responsibilities in this job description are intended to be guidelines and list essential skills required for team leader success.
- Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
- Provide leadership to assigned team in daily activities while communicating with appropriate levels of management to ensure reliable and timely communication.
- Record and report daily production results to supervisor.
- Make work assignments in accordance with production requirements.
- Assure proper inventory levels are maintained and report any shortages to supervisor.
- Actively promote and identify potential opportunities that improve departmental efficiency and cost.
- Assure a safe and healthful working environment.
- Other duties assigned by the management.
- Minimum of 6 months permanent employment with MPSA-SMW
- Able to work with multiple work stations and assign daily assignments to all personnel within assigned area. May fill in other areas as needed & directed by Supervisor.
- Familiar with product flow and able to review & interpret component and assembly blueprints/drawings as well as bill of material.
- No open discipline.
