Human Resource Assistant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Human Resource Assistant to support the daily operations of our HR department in a fast-paced, collaborative, and unionized environment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in onboarding, employee record management, benefits administration, and general HR support while ensuring compliance with company policies and collective bargaining agreements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and facilitate new hire onboarding process and documentation.
•Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in both physical and digital formats.
•Prepare HR documents such as employment contracts, letters, and reports.
•Support payroll processing and employee benefits administration.
•Handle employee queries regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
•Assist to ensure compliance with labor laws and internal policies.
•Assist with organizing training sessions and employee engagement activities as needed.
•Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
•Perform general administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and calendar management.
•Assist in ensuring adherence to the terms of collective bargaining agreements and support union-related documentation.
•Support prevailing wage compliance and documentation as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources OR at least 3 years of experience in a human resources support role.
•Previous experience in an HR or administrative capacity required; experience in a unionized or construction/landscape setting is highly preferred.
•Familiarity with HR principles, employment law, and collective bargaining agreements.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Sage 100 Contractor is a plus.
•Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
•High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
•Knowledge of prevailing wage documentation and compliance is a strong asset.
•Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
•Reliable attendance and a strong sense of accountability are essential.
•Knowledge in Prevailing Wage Documentation is preferred
