The Mighty Argo Cable Car (MACC) in Idaho Springs is a state-of-the-art cable car system connecting visitors to Colorado’s rich mining heritage, scenic mountain trailheads at Virginia Canyon Mountain Park, and sweeping views of the Colorado Rockies from Miner’s Point—a vibrant recreational complex featuring dining, an amphitheater, and year-round events and activities for all ages.
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Environmental Technician who take pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across all guest-facing and operational areas. This role plays a critical part in protecting the guest experience and supporting operational excellence across the gondola system, mountain plaza, and downtown facilities.
Environmental Technicians are responsible for maintaining cleanliness standards in public areas, food and beverage spaces, retail environments, offices, restrooms, and high-traffic exterior areas. This position requires strong situational awareness, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, outdoor mountain setting.
- Follow all safety procedures related to cleaning chemicals, equipment use, and public space sanitation.
- Maintain proper storage, labeling, and handling of cleaning agents in accordance with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements.
- Identify and immediately address slip, trip, and fall hazards (wet floors, debris, snow/ice accumulation).
- Report facility damage, vandalism, maintenance concerns, or safety risks promptly to supervision.
- Support compliance with local, state, and health regulations applicable to tourism and food adjacent environments.
- Safely handle, store, and dispose of cleaning chemicals, fuels, and maintenance materials in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), PPE requirements, and environmental best practices, report spills or exposure incidents immediately.
- Attend and actively participate in required safety training, including Hazard Communication (HazCom), Safety Data Sheet (SDS) protocols, proper PPE use, spill response procedures, and safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and maintenance materials.
- Clean and disinfect public restrooms, including fixtures, floors, partitions, sinks, and high-touch surfaces.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain cleanliness across guest-facing areas including gondola load/unload zones, retail spaces, dining areas, amphitheater, playground areas, and all walkways.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles; replace liners and ensure proper disposal practices.
- Restock paper products, soap, sanitizer, and other restroom supplies proactively throughout the day.
- Respond quickly to spills, biohazard situations, weather-related debris, and high-traffic cleaning needs.
- Support event setup and breakdown related to cleanliness and sanitation needs.
- Maintain break rooms and staff spaces in alignment with company standards.
- Monitor cleanliness standards throughout shifts and communicate supply needs or operational issues.
- Assist with snow removal and seasonal transitions as directed.
- Support peak-season operations and high-volume days with increased plaza and restroom monitoring.
- Participate in cross-department collaboration to ensure seamless operations.
- Participate in pre-event readiness meetings as needed.
- Align staffing levels with event schedules.
- Support post-event breakdown and waste management coordination.

- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, bend, climb stairs, and work at high altitude.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying mountain weather conditions.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to successfully complete a background check and pre-employment drug screening in accordance with applicable laws (marijuana excluded from screening panel).
- Prior janitorial, housekeeping, hospitality, or facilities experience preferred but not required.
- Experience working in tourism, hospitality, ski resort, or high-traffic public environments.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemical safety and sanitation best practices.
- Basic understanding of proper PPE use.

- Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and early morning or evening shifts during operations.
